The 25th edition of the Winter Olympics officially opened in Milan on Friday evening. China Media Group, the exclusive broadcaster for the Chinese mainland and Macao Special Administrative Region, has launched full‑scale coverage combining live broadcasts, on‑site reporting and international feed production.

CMG has established a 1,700‑square‑meter hub at the Milan International Broadcast Center, equipped with a fully integrated newsroom and multiple studio systems. The broadcaster is producing content across a diverse assortment of platforms to provide comprehensive coverage of the Games.

For the first time in the history of the Winter Olympics, CMG is producing the international broadcast feed for figure skating and short track speed skating, while also providing 8K coverage for the opening and closing ceremonies.

As the only media organization producing 8K content at the Games, CMG has built a dedicated 8K hall at the IBC to showcase ultra‑high‑definition Olympic coverage to international rights‑holding broadcasters.

CMG Vice President Qi Zhuquan visited the IBC ahead of the opening ceremony to meet the production and technical teams. He highlighted CMG's role in demonstrating technical expertise and delivering high‑quality winter sports coverage to audiences worldwide.

International Olympic Committee President Kirsty Coventry met with Qi at the Milan Olympic House, praising CMG's preparation and investment in ultra‑high‑definition broadcasting. She described CMG's 8K production as a leading example of broadcast innovation that enhances the Olympic viewing experience globally.
