Clean energy drove over one-third of China's GDP growth – but many in the West still don't see it

"Several of China's key clean energy sectors – including electric vehicles, solar, wind and batteries – saw strong growth at a time when the overall economy was under heavy pressure," said Lauri Myllyvirta, Lead Analyst at the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA), in an exclusive interview with CGTN.

His comments come as CREA released a report on February 5, showing that clean energy drove over one-third of China's GDP growth in 2025, and that claims China "doesn't use its own wind power" are, in his words, "exactly the opposite of reality."
