Switzerland's Franjo von Allmen captured the first gold medal of the Games, completing the men's downhill in 1:51.61. The win crowned him Olympic champion in the event.

It was a thrilling moment for the 24-year-old skier, marking a career-defining achievement.

Downhill, like the super-G, features long, demanding courses that take more than a minute and a half to complete, with wide gaps between gates. These conditions allow athletes to reach the highest speeds in Alpine skiing, testing both skill and courage.
