China strongly condemns the deadly explosion that struck Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, on Friday afternoon local time, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA),said Sunday.

China is deeply shocked by the deadly attack and the heavy casualties it caused, the spokesperson said, adding that "China mourns for the lives lost, and our hearts go out to the injured and those who lost their loved ones."

China opposes all forms of terrorism and firmly supports the Pakistani government in safeguarding national security and stability, as well as protecting the safety of its people.
