For many residents in Sichuan Province, southwest China, everyday mobility is being redesigned around daily needs. In Chengdu city, specially tailored "direct-to-market" bus routes have become a popular and practical way for residents, especially elders, to get to local markets.

Unlike regular buses, these routes skip non-market stops, add extra services on market days, and use low-floor, step-free vehicles with space for groceries and carts, making them especially friendly for older passengers. The service shortens travel time while making shopping trips safer and more convenient.

More than just transport, these market buses connect daily essentials with community life, bringing fresh food home and keeping the city’s everyday rhythm running smoothly. (Photos via VCG)
