At a conference in Geneva last Friday, a senior U.S. official called on China to join multilateral nuclear arms control and strategic stability dialogue. When asked about the remarks on Tuesday in Beijing, China's Foreign Ministry voiced strong opposition, saying the United States' persistent distortion and defamation of China's nuclear policies amount to a political maneuver aimed at seeking nuclear hegemony and shirking its own responsibility for nuclear disarmament.
