In a conversation with CGTN, Christie Henry, director of Princeton University Press (PUP), reflected on the enduring role of academic publishing amid growing global uncertainty. She underscored the importance of cultural exchange, scholarly collaboration and the circulation of diverse ideas as foundations for mutual understanding in a divided world.

Henry told CGTN that academic publishing remains a vital bridge for cross-cultural dialogue, allowing ideas to move beyond political and geographic boundaries. She highlighted Chinese literature and philosophy as essential to the global intellectual landscape, citing the "I Ching" (Yijing) as a work whose influence continues across time and cultures.

In a world defined by rapid change and increasing fragmentation, books remain one of the most peaceful forms of exchange. They do not argue loudly or demand agreement – but they persist. Moving quietly from hand to hand and language to language, they continue to link cultures, beliefs and people who may never meet, yet share the same curiosity about how the world works and how it might be understood together.
