Sweet Diplomacy: Nauru President visits candy maker in south China

Nauru's President David Adeang toured Amos Foods Group in Jiangmen, a global candy manufacturer founded by Jiangmen native Ma Enduo, during his visit to south China's Guangdong Province on Tuesday. President Adeang shares ancestral roots with the city – his great-grandfather traced back to Jiangmen – adding a personal touch to the visit. In a grand gesture, Ma donated an entire container of sweets to the people of Nauru. President Adeang praised Amos as a world pioneer in the confectionery industry and thanked Ma for the gesture, calling him "a good friend of Nauru" and saying, "We are brothers". Blending nostalgia, hometown ties and goodwill, the visit added a sweet note to growing China-Nauru relations.
