In the heart of Shenzhen, mangroves rise tall along the bay. These are the southern Chinese city's coastal guardians. To protect them, civil designers even moved a major expressway 200 meters inland, added noise-reducing barriers and restored the shoreline. The bay remains blue, and the mangroves continue to thrive.
