European Parliament approves 90-billion-euro loan to aid Ukraine

The European Parliament approved a 90-billion-euro (around $107 billion) loan for Ukraine's financial needs for 2026 and 2027, with 60 billion euros ($71 billion) for defense and military equipment and 30 billion euros ($36 billion) for macro-financial assistance or budget support. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed peace talks in the U.S. next Tuesday or Wednesday, focusing on territorial issues and a potential "free economic zone" in Ukraine's Donbas. He also said that earlier talks in Abu Dhabi were constructive and emphasized the need for Ukrainian parliamentary approval or a referendum on the peace plan.
