One of the most important aspects of the Winter Olympics is beaming the event to hundreds of millions of viewers around the world eager to keep up with the action. At Milano Cortina 2026, China Media Group is serving a major role in broadcasting the competitions, while Chinese technology giant Alibaba has launched a series of new innovations aimed at bringing fans closer than ever to the Games.

Those contributions were recognized and praised by the CEO of the Organizing Committee, Andrea Varnier, during an interview with CGTN Sports Scene's Greg Laffradi.

Varnier noted that the Games need to adapt to the changing habits of the audience, especially the younger generations. He spoke highly of the influence of CMG's work and technology in expanding the reach of the 2026 Winter Olympics to a larger audience around the world.

The CEO also highlighted the importance of the artificial intelligence and cloud technology introduced by Alibaba as a starting point toward future changes in how viewers consume the Games, due to helping audience members understand the competitions in different ways.
