In an exclusive CGTN interview, Lauri Myllyvirta, lead analyst at the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA), says China's clean energy transition is driven not only by manufacturing capacity but also by long-term commitment and people who truly believe in it.

Having lived in China, Myllyvirta recalled a defining moment in Beijing that made the scale and speed of the transition tangible. At an event featuring a clean energy startup co-founder, a room full of enthusiastic young people listening intently highlighted the strong ambition and conviction behind China’s clean energy future.

According to CREA's February 5 report, China's clean energy industries generated more than 15.4 trillion yuan (about $2.1 trillion) in 2025, a scale comparable to the GDP of major economies such as Canada or Brazil, underscoring the sector's growing role as a key engine of economic growth.
