Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno during the Munich Security Conference on Friday.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that over the 54 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Argentina have reached an important consensus on consolidating and developing the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
He also emphasized that both sides should adhere to the correct direction of bilateral relations, promote friendly exchanges at all levels and in various fields and firmly support each other on issues concerning their respective core interests. Wang pointed out that the economies of China and Argentina are highly complementary, with a solid foundation for practical cooperation. The two countries should deepen cooperation in trade, science and technology, finance and mining.
China welcomes Argentina to take full advantage of the China International Import Expo and China Import and Export Fair, supporting the entry of quality products into the Chinese market. Wang also expressed the expectation for Argentina to provide a business environment that is fair, transparent and non-discriminatory.
Quirno noted that Argentina has benefited a lot from cooperation with China, as both an essential trade partner and comprehensive strategic partner. He also said that Argentina upholds the one-China principle and looks forward to close communications and exchanges with Beijing, as well as deepening cooperation in trade, energy, mining and finance.
