Japan has dropped from the top-10 destinations for Chinese tourists during the 2026 Chinese New Year holiday. Flights have been reduced by 60 percent for February and March while the number of visitors declined by 45.3 percent year on year in Dec. 2025. The tourism sector is reeling from the Takaichi Cost as its biggest spenders stay away.
