"As long as there is opera, there must be the making of Kui Mao."
Master craftsman Mei Lizhong has devoted over 30 years to making headdresses for the Wu Opera Troupe of Yiwu City, east China's Zhejiang Province.
These intricate headpieces, called Kui Mao in Chinese but also referred to as Kui Tou, are essential to the performance, as they visually communicate a character's gender, status, personality traits and more.
This CGTN documentary presents the story and craftsmanship of master craftsman Mei Lizhong, who dedicates himself to safeguarding China's intangible cultural heritage.
