Across cities and coastal towns, culture and tourism are becoming part of daily public life. As an important historical starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road and a core area of the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road, east China's Fujian Province is drawing renewed attention through its rich cultural heritage. In recent years, Fujian has recorded steady double-digit annual growth in tourist visits and spending, with the cultural and tourism sector now contributing more than 10 percent of GDP.
