In a debate program titled "This Dialogue Project" hosted by the 92NY, Lyle Goldstein, director of the Asia Program at Defense Priorities argued that "U.S. military defense of Taiwan is not in America's national interest."

He noted that the price of defending Taiwan isn't just a bigger military budget. It could be tens, even hundreds, of thousands of American lives.
