Safe drinking water is a basic need and vital for people's wellbeing. In the rural areas of east China's Jiangxi Province, the progress is clear: from struggling to access water to now enjoying a steady supply of cleaner water.

To tackle tough challenges, local authorities have tried new approaches. A coordination mechanism now brings departments together for regular joint discussions, helping align policies, share information, pool funding and coordinate projects. By working with local governments, universities and other partners, Jiangxi is solving problems faster and better.
