Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Tuesday said the United States will never succeed in toppling the Islamic Republic, in response to the recent military threats from the U.S. side.

"The U.S. president keeps saying that they have the strongest military force in the world," Khamenei said, adding that even the strongest military force in the world can suffer crippling blows so hard that it cannot rise again.

He said the U.S. president said in one of his recent remarks that for 47 years, the U.S. has been unable to eliminate the Islamic Republic.

"That is a good admission," Khamenei said. "I say, you, too, will not be able to do this."

"The Americans constantly say that they've sent a warship toward Iran. Of course, a warship is a dangerous piece of military hardware. However, more dangerous than that warship is the weapon that can send that warship to the bottom of the sea," he said.

U.S. President Donald Trump recently said regime change in Iran is "the best thing that could happen."

The second round of indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States began in Geneva on Tuesday. The negotiations are being held at Oman's embassy in the Swiss city and mediated by Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi.

U.S. presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner represent Washington in the negotiations.

The new round of negotiations comes amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington, as well as a U.S. military buildup in West Asia.
