Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman was on Tuesday sworn in as the new prime minister of Bangladesh.
Bangladeshi President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath to Rahman and the country's new cabinet ministers at a ceremony in Dhaka.
A total of 25 ministers and 24 state ministers took the oath.
Earlier, the BNP parliamentary party elected Rahman as its leader following the party's victory in the national parliament election on February 12.
According to the official results announced by the Election Commission, the BNP secured 209 seats in the 13th national parliament, obtaining a clear majority to form the government.
This is the South Asian country's first general election since Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister in August 2024 amid nationwide political chaos.
