Megan Oldham of Canada has clinched one gold and one bronze at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. In an interview with CGTN's Dan Williams, she delved into her feelings about those accomplishments.
"Yeah, it's been absolutely incredible," the 24-year-old said. "It has been an Olympic Games that has surpassed all my wildest dreams. For sure, I wanted to come here and get one medal, and go home with that. And to have two and be Olympic champion, just, it's crazy."
In Oldham's women's freestyle skiing big air victory, she scored 91.25 points on her first run to enjoy a spectacular start, which she believes set the tone for the rest of the competition.
The final was delayed by 90 minutes due to heavy snowfall. To deal with that challenge, Oldham kept visualizing her tricks and constantly moving around to keep her body ready.
China's Gu Ailing earned silver in the final and the champion spoke highly of one of her biggest rivals.
"I mean, Eileen is such a talented skier," Oldham noted. "She's so good under pressure, and it's really hard to know what she's gonna do, because she's always learning new tricks and always kind of pulling something out that we don't expect. So I just knew today, going in, that I needed to really put my best skiing forward, and no matter what, showcase that, and I was hoping it would be enough to stand next to her, and luckily, it was."
Oldham is also delighted with the attention Gu has brought to women's sports.
"So having her bring eyes to our events is amazing, and it's really cool to see how many people have gotten into the sport just because of her," the Canadian concluded.
