Rain Water, the second of the 24 Solar Terms following the Beginning of Spring, is marked by rising temperatures, melting ice and snow, and increased rainfall – which gives it its name. As the earth is moistened and plants begin to sprout, this period reflects the saying that "spring rain is as precious as oil." It heralds the end of severe cold and the arrival of gentle, continuous spring showers. In this moisture-rich warmth, all living things gather energy for growth, while farmers across the land busy themselves preparing for plowing and sowing, their hearts filled with hope for a bumper harvest.
