Su Yiming won the men's snowboard slopestyle gold medal on Wednesday, clinching China's first title at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, while also gifting himself a perfect birthday present at the Livigno Snow Park.
The now 22-year-old Su scored 82.41 points on his first run to take the lead in the 12-man championship round. Japan's Taiga Hasegawa trailed in second place by a margin of 0.28.
Su, who snagged silver in this event at Beijing 2022, picked up 79.90 points on his second attempt, remaining on top of the standings. Hasegawa failed to land cleanly, receiving just 69.05.
On the third and final run, the USA's Jake Canter rose into bronze medal position with 79.36 points, before Hasegawa committed a series of mistakes on his closing attempt, garnering a mere 22.30 points.
Su put together another excellent effort on his third run to score 82.18 points, 0.23 less than his opening performance, but still one of the day's best individual trips through the course.
In the end, Su held on to grab gold while Hasegawa settled for silver and Canter bagged bronze.
