Coffee trees thrive in mild mountain climates – and on Yunnan's highlands, they grow in abundance, producing over 97 percent of China's coffee. From November to March, green coffee cherries slowly ripen into deep red jewels. With bamboo baskets on their backs, farmers move through layered hillside plantations, gently picking each ripe cherry by hand.
