The United States reclaimed Olympic women's hockey gold on Thursday, rallying to beat Canada 2–1 in overtime at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.

Canada led for much of the night thanks to Kristin O'Neill until U.S. captain Hilary Knight deflected a long‑range puck with just over two minutes remaining to force a 1–1 tie. In sudden death, defender Megan Keller shrugged off the usual defensive reticence, lunging on a solo rush and burying the winner to set off euphoria in the stands.

The result is another chapter in a rivalry that has defined the sport: the U.S. now has three Olympic women's hockey titles (1998, 2018 and 2026), Canada five, and the two nations have contested seven of the eight Olympic gold‑medal finals.
