Two giant pandas, Baoyuan and Derui, arrived in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from Chengdu, Sichuan Province ahead of Chinese New Year and made their public debut at the Water Park Panda Pavilion. Baoyuan, aged 4, has a square face and a gentle personality, while Derui, 5, is energetic with a round face and glossy fur. Visitors lined up to see the pair enjoying bamboo air-shipped from Sichuan in their smart temperature-controlled home. With expert care from local staff trained at the Giant Panda Conservation Center, the pandas are settling in happily, bringing festive joy to Xinjiang at the foot of the Tianshan Mountains.
