Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in an interview with China Media Group (CMG) that during World War Two, Japan stood on the wrong side of history. She emphasized that Japan must face history squarely and reflect deeply, as history cannot be distorted.
She said this is an issue with certain individuals and politicians in Japan who consistently fail to acknowledge an obvious fact – during World War Two, Japan stood on the wrong side of history.
She added that Japan was the aggressor and a militarist state, and that Japanese politicians at that time led many Japanese to lose their humanity and commit extremely cruel crimes.
She emphasized that Japan must confront its history and engage in serious reflection, underscoring that history must not to be distorted.
"Japan must learn the lessons to ensure that its future generations do not repeat the same mistakes. We have experienced all of this, and we will never allow it to spread. I believe that on this issue, Russia and China share the same position," Zakharova added.
