2026 Spring Festival travel rush sees post-holiday passenger surge

Monday marks the final day of the Spring Festival holiday, as the travel rush hits its return peak.

In the first half of the Spring Festival travel rush, which runs from February 2 to March 13, cross-regional passenger flows across all modes of transport are estimated to have reached 5.08 billion trips, averaging 250 million trips per day – up 5.6 percent year on year and reaching a record high for the same period. Beijing South Railway Station is experiencing one of its peak days, with operation described as safe and orderly. CGTN's Liu Jiaxin reports.
