A massive snowstorm is hitting the northeastern United States, causing widespread power outages and major travel disruption. Parts of New York City have received up to 48 centimeters of snow and officials have warned it could rank among the city's top 10 worst snowstorms in 150 years. States of emergency have been declared in New Jersey, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, with commercial vehicle bans and travel restrictions in place. As of Monday, over 600,000 customers are without power across the region and thousands of flights have been canceled nationwide. Schools in cities including New York and Boston are closed.
