For over a thousand years, the Ancient Tea Horse Road served as a vital trade route linking Yunnan, Xizang and Southeast Asia–and Shaxi Ancient Town was one of its key stops. Today, this historic town still preserves its original theater stage, traditional shops, merchant inns and temple complex, earning its reputation as the last surviving market town along the Ancient Tea Horse Road.
