Chang Bingyu stuns England's Shaun Murphy with four straight centuries at Welsh Open

Chang Bingyu of China stunned 2005 world champion Shaun Murphy of England 4-0 at the World Snooker Tour's Welsh Open in Llandudno on Tuesday, becoming just the ninth player in history to record century breaks in four consecutive frames.

The 23-year-old from northwest China's Qinghai Province was nothing if not dominant against the 43-year-old known as "The Magician," firing in breaks of 130, 136, 119 and 130.

"It was just fantastic. I'm glad I was here to witness that," said 12-time women's world champion Reanne Evans, who witnessed the display in her role as a match analyst for BBC Sport.

"That's the best performance in a best-of-seven match I've ever seen," applauded Murphy. "If that were Ronnie O'Sullivan or Judd Trump, it would be on the news. What a performance. What a player."

Chang will face Jackson Page of Wales next.

In other action, Xiao Guodong edged Long Zehuang 4-3 and Zhao Xintong survived a seven-frame battle of his own against Fan Zhengyi, in a thrilling pair of all-Chinese clashes.

China's Zhou Yuelong thrashed Alexander Ursenbacher of Switzerland 4-0, while Zhang Anda beat England's Mitchell Mann 4-2 to advance as well.
