China and the United States have maintained ongoing communication at various levels through the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism, China's Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yongqian said on Thursday.

He made the remarks at a regular press conference in response to a question concerning the upcoming sixth round of China-U.S. economic and trade consultations.

"China is willing to work with the United States to implement and uphold the consensus reached by the two heads of state at their meeting in Busan and during their phone call on February 4," the spokesperson said.

"The two sides should, through consultations on the basis of equality, properly manage differences, expand practical cooperation and safeguard the sound, stable and sustainable development of China-U.S. economic and trade relations, so as to better benefit the two countries and the world," the spokesperson noted.
