U.S. President Donald Trump told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a phone call on Wednesday evening Kyiv time that he wants the conflict to end within a month.
Trump said the conflict has gone on for far too long and that he would like to see it come to an end within 30 days, according to a report by Axios, which is also cited by the Ukrainian national news agency.
The two presidents held a preliminary discussion on issues that their representatives will address on February 26 in Geneva.
The call, which also included U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, covered ground in preparation for a trilateral meeting with Russian officials at the beginning of March.
Ukraine expects the meeting in March to create an opportunity to move the dialogue to a leadership level, a line of progression supported by Trump, according to the official website of the President of Ukraine.
A leaders' meeting "is the only way to resolve all the complex and sensitive issues and finally end the war," Zelenskyy said.
