China refuted the U.S. demand for it to join the so-called "trilateral nuclear arms control talks" on Friday, calling the proposal unfair, unreasonable and unfeasible, as China possesses drastically fewer nuclear arms compared to the United States and Russia.

In response to a question regarding the U.S. demand for China to participate in trilateral nuclear arms control negotiations with the U.S. and Russia, Mao Ning, a spokesperson of China's Foreign Ministry, stated that China's nuclear arsenal is nowhere near the level of those possessed by the two countries.

Demanding China's participation in so-called "nuclear arms control talks" with the U.S. and Russia at this stage is unfair, unreasonable and unfeasible, said Mao.

China has clarified its position on this issue on many occasions, Mao stated. As a country possessing a massive nuclear arsenal, the United States should earnestly fulfill its special and primary responsibility for nuclear disarmament, which is the universal consensus of the international community.
