China's largest single solar power project built on former coal mining subsidence land has begun operation in Lingwu, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

The 4-gigawatt photovoltaic plant covers around 80 square kilometers and includes more than 7 million solar panels. Once fully operational, it will generate about 6.8 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity annually – enough to power roughly 4.5 million households.

The project demonstrates how former mining areas can be transformed to support renewable energy and ecological restoration.
