Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov held an emergency conversation over the phone on Saturday, following the military strikes against Iran launched by the United Sates and Israel, according to China Media Group.
During the call, Araghchi provided a detailed briefing on the severe situation following attacks on several Iranian cities, with a particular focus on condemning the missile strike on a school in Minab on Saturday morning.
He confirmed that the attack on the civilian educational facility claimed the lives of at least 51 girls.
Araghchi said such "acts of aggression" constitute a violation of the fundamental principles of the UN Charter and are "crimes" jeopardizing international peace and security.
He reiterated Iran's right to defend the nation using all means at its disposal and called on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to take action to hold what he called the aggressors accountable both legally and morally.
Lavrov condemned the strikes on Iran and expressed support for convening an emergency session of the UN Security Council to address and manage the current critical situation.
