The United States and Israel launched a joint military strike on Iran on Saturday, resulting in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran attacked multiple U.S. military bases in the Middle East and Israeli-related targets, significantly escalating the situation in the region. An online poll released by CGTN to global netizens showed that 93.9 percent of respondents condemned the military action by the U.S. and Israel, deeming it a violation of Iran's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity. They called for an immediate halt to the military operations to prevent further escalation of tensions.

This military action occurred during ongoing diplomatic negotiations between the U.S. and Iran, deeply shocking the international public. In the survey, 86.8 percent of respondents criticized the U.S. for intensifying military deterrence during the negotiation process, calling it a display of "American hegemony." They argued that such actions not only disregard the fundamental principles of international law but also destroy the possibility of resolving disputes through diplomatic means. Force has never been the right way to resolve international disputes, as it only exacerbates hatred and conflicts. Of the respondents, 79.8 percent strongly agreed with this view, noting that numerous facts have repeatedly shown that U.S. military pressure on other countries cannot fundamentally eliminate differences, but instead reduces the space for negotiation, intensifying contradictions and opposition.

This military action has already caused numerous casualties. International organizations like the United Nations, as well as leaders and governments of various countries, have condemned the U.S.-Israel military action and called for all parties to resume dialogue to avoid further escalation. Ninety percent of respondents expressed concern that the already fragile Middle East peace process would deteriorate rapidly, believing that the escalation of the situation in the Middle East would not serve the interests of any party. Additionally, 94.7 percent of respondents believed that the "American hegemony" approach, which disregards international law and the norms of international relations, is also escalating and will seriously undermine global trust in multilateral mechanisms, destabilizing global strategic stability.

The survey was released on CGTN's English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Russian platforms, attracting 23,464 respondents worldwide within 24 hours to participate and share their views.
