China has consistently upheld the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and opposes the use of force in international relations, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Sunday.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during a phone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the situation in Iran.

It is unacceptable for the United States and Israel to launch strikes on Iran during the Iran-U.S. negotiations, Wang said, adding that it is also unacceptable for them to openly kill the leader of a sovereign state and encourage government transfer, adding that these actions violate international law and basic international relations.
