As the 2026 Two Sessions approaches, Lyu Yan is carefully packing a suitcase filled with specialty products from Baoting Li and Miao Autonomous County of south China's Hainan Province. She is preparing to bring the small county's unique culture and industries to Beijing.

The new highlights Lyu plans to introduce this year include horse-year cultural figurines inspired by Li brocade weaving, dyeing, spinning and embroidery techniques, along with local specialties like coconut oil.

The Li brocade–themed figurine reflects efforts to rejuvenate intangible cultural heritage. In December 2024, the Li brocade craft was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Combining traditional patterns with a zodiac design, the figurine quickly became popular among young consumers during the Spring Festival.

This year, Lyu hopes to showcase Baoting's cultural heritage, ecological products, and development opportunities, while helping local specialties become products that truly increase residents' incomes. (Photos via China National Radio official)
