Former Minister of Interior of Iran Ahmad Vahidi has been named as the new commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), according to Iranian media.

Vahidi is a founding member of the IRGC and has previously held offices including minister of defense and armed forces logistics, and commander of the Quds Force, which is responsible for unconventional warfare and external intelligence operations.
