As China prepares for its 2026 Two Sessions, the policy direction set at the annual meetings is drawing attention amid global economic uncertainty and shifting trade dynamics.
Having attended the meetings six times since his arrival in China, Rwandan Ambassador to China James Kimonyo spoke highly of China's people-centered governance philosophy and emphasis on high-quality development. He said the principle of putting people at the center of policymaking resonates strongly with Rwanda's own national strategy. During an interview with CGTN's Zhang Meng, he noted that China's focus on technological innovation, industrial upgrading and improving people's livelihoods aligns closely with Rwanda's goal of building a knowledge-based economy centered on youth and human capital development.
Looking ahead to the next phase of China's development planning, including the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan, Kimonyo said clearer policy signals in areas such as green development, advanced manufacturing and vocational education will open concrete opportunities for cooperation. He described vocational education as a practical foundation for Rwanda's industrial growth and long-term transformation.
