The 2026 Consumption Promotion Month and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Consumption Season kicked off in Tianjin Municipality on Monday.
The launch ceremony was attended by Sheng Qiuping, vice minister of Commerce, Qi Zhuquan, vice president of China Media Group, and Tang Wenhong, vice mayor of Beijing, among other officials.
Held at Tianjin's Ancient Culture Street, the event featured exhibition areas showcasing products, live performances and promotional displays that highlighted new measures to stimulate consumption across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
A bilingual guidebook, Shopping in China Consumption Guide For Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, was unveiled at the event. Covering four themes – premium shopping, exquisite dining, exciting travel and excellent exhibitions – the guide provides practical tips and recommendations for consumers. A joint exhibition area branded "Gifts from Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei" debuted alongside a first list of signature regional souvenirs.
This year's consumption season focuses on boosting service-oriented consumption. Building on spring travel and leisure trends, 10 initiatives are introduced, including promoting flagship consumption scenarios, strengthening regional culinary brands, expanding "AI+" applications and encouraging curated shopping and lifestyle routes exploration.
The efforts are expected to deepen coordinated consumption across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, expand the supply of quality goods and services, encourage first-release launches as well as health-conscious, green and smart consumption, and foster greater integration across commerce, tourism, culture, sports and wellness sectors to better meet evolving consumer demand.
The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce, China Media Group and the governments of Beijing and Tianjin municipalities and Hebei Province.
