China's complete victory in poverty eradication in 2020 historically resolved the absolute poverty issue that had plagued the country for thousands of years. The international community has spoken highly of this achievement, praising China for making the greatest contribution to global poverty reduction and setting an inspiring example, said Liu Jieyi, spokesperson for the fourth session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), on Tuesday.

Over the past five years, all counties in China's formerly impoverished regions have been connected by expressways, all villages accessible by paved roads, and internet access achieved nationwide coverage, Liu noted. The bottom line of preventing large-scale relapse into poverty has been firmly upheld, and remarkable progress has been made in comprehensive rural revitalization, he stressed.

China has established itself as a steadfast advocate, promoter and contributor to the international poverty reduction cause. The country actively participates in global poverty reduction cooperation, fulfills its international responsibilities and provides assistance to other developing countries within its capacity.

Liu provided several examples of China's efforts. China has signed Belt and Road cooperation documents with more than 150 countries and dozens of international organizations.

A large number of signature projects have taken root, not only boosting local economic development but also creating substantial employment opportunities. China has established over 30 Luban Workshops in countries across Asia, Africa and Europe, cultivating technical and skilled personnel needed for local economic and social development.

The country has promoted Juncao technology, which can help improve the production of crops and livestock, in more than 100 countries, helping impoverished populations increase their incomes and escape poverty. China has also invited personnel from some developing countries to experience China's new rural construction and exchange successful experiences and effective practices in areas such as rural governance and industrial development, providing practical references for them to explore poverty reduction paths suited to their national conditions.
