An Iranian scholar said on Monday that the real ambition of the United States and Israel is to control the entire West Asia region and its resources.
In an interview with China Media Group, Seyed Mohammad Marandi, professor at Tehran University, said that with the exposure of the Epstein files and Washington's support for what he described as genocide in Gaza, the US government's "Israel First" stance has been fully laid bare.
With US backing, Israel's true ambition is to control the whole of West Asia, including oil and natural gas resources as well as the Gulf region, he said, adding that this would mean the United States and Israel intend to jointly dominate everything in the region.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched large-scale airstrikes against Iran, killing Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and a number of senior military and political officials.
Iran later retaliated by launching strikes on US military bases in the Gulf region and against Israel, with some Middle East countries affected by the spillover of the conflict.
