Iran, Hezbollah strike Israel, injuring 2, as conflict intensifies across southern Lebanon

At least two people were injured in central Israel during two joint missile and rocket attacks launched by Iran and Hezbollah on Wednesday, as Israeli forces carried out a wave of airstrikes across southern Lebanon.

Israel's Magen David Adom rescue service reported that one man was injured by shrapnel and another suffered blast-related injuries. Both were listed in light condition and received medical treatment at the scene.

The barrages triggered sirens nationwide in Israel, with loud explosions from interceptions shaking buildings in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The Israeli military confirmed that the attacks included several missiles from Iran and rockets from Lebanon, all of which were either intercepted by air defense systems or landed in uninhabited areas.

The attacks came shortly after the Israeli military issued an evacuation warning to all residents of southern Lebanon, instructing them to move north of the Litani River on the third day of full-scale fighting between Israel and Hezbollah.

Following the barrages, Israel launched a wave of airstrikes across southern Lebanon on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Lebanon's state-run National News Agency, Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling targeted multiple areas across the country, accompanied by ground incursions along the southern border.

Also on Wednesday afternoon, Hezbollah claimed it struck an Israeli armored personnel carrier in the southern Lebanese village of Houla, reporting a direct hit.

The escalation follows Hezbollah's Monday rocket launches toward Israel, the first since a November 2024 ceasefire, and subsequent Israeli airstrikes on Beirut's southern suburbs and areas across Lebanon. Despite the ceasefire agreement, Israeli forces have continued to carry out occasional strikes in Lebanon, claiming they are aimed at eliminating Hezbollah "threats."
