Engagement with China is conducive to Europe's development, the spokesperson for the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) said on Wednesday.

Lou Qinjian made the remarks at a press conference in response to a question regarding recent visits to China by multiple European political figures.

The facts have demonstrated that Europe needs China and China also needs Europe, Lou said.

He emphasized that the essence of China-Europe economic and trade relations is complementary advantages and mutual benefit. 

"Cooperation with China benefits Europe's economic development and the improvement of its people's livelihood and well-being," Lou added.
