Rare total lunar eclipse coincides with Lantern Festival in Beijing
On March 3, people across China celebrated the Lantern Festival, which falls on the fifteenth day of the first month in the traditional Chinese calendar. This year's festival was extra special: not only did we have a full moon, but also a rare total lunar eclipse.
These photos capture the moon in Beijing during the final stage of the total lunar eclipse, and show it gradually brightening and returning to a complete, full circle.
