Spokesperson highlights rapid growth of China's AI, high-tech sectors

Lou Qinjian, spokesperson for the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), China's national legislature, on Tuesday highlighted the development of China's artificial intelligence and high-computing sectors. Lou made the remarks at a press conference ahead of the NPC's annual session at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. At the event, he answered questions from Chinese and foreign reporters regarding the agenda of the session and the work of the NPC.

The spokesperson noted that humanoid robots made appearances at the Spring Festival Gala for two consecutive years, and 2025 was a crucial year for the domestic humanoid robot industry to achieve both technological breakthroughs and scenario-based implementation. He added that continuous expansion in the capabilities of humanoid robot technology and application scenarios presents people with a future of infinite possibilities.

Lou noted that the key to technological innovation and development lies in ensuring that core technologies are independently controllable. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), he said efforts will be made to strengthen original innovation and make key technological breakthroughs. The country will speed up the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation, and advance the whole industry chain to make decisive breakthroughs in key core technologies, he added.
