Chinese Premier Li Qiang said China will continue to consolidate and expand its poverty alleviation gains while advancing comprehensive rural revitalization in the year ahead.

Li made the remarks while outlining the government's key tasks for 2026 in the work report delivered at the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress on Thursday.

He emphasized that efforts to consolidate and expand poverty alleviation gains would be integrated into the broader rural revitalization strategy, ensuring the prevention of large-scale lapse or relapse into poverty.

He also highlighted the government's commitment to maintaining stable assistance policies and establishing reasonable standards for identifying those at risk of falling back into poverty. Measures will be taken to ensure early detection, intervention and assistance.
