Construction has started in Qingdao on a cylindrical floating production storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) designed to serve the Kaiping South oilfield in the South China Sea. The offshore platform will have a full-load displacement exceeding 170,000 tonnes and a crude storage capacity of 122,000 cubic meters. Once completed, it will support development of the Kaiping South deepwater oilfield, located about 300 kilometers from Shenzhen in waters around 500 meters deep.
